So we may have missed the boat on checking out any movie theatre screenings of Wayne’s World this week, but we thought we’d bring a little bit of magic to you in honor of the film’s 25th anniversary anyway.
Yup. That’s right. It’s been twenty-five years since Wayne and Garth worked their magic to win their way into the heart of the beautiful and talented Cassandra Wong. Twenty-five years since you (may have) first heard staple, everyday phrases like, “I don’t even own a gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack,” “Did you ever find Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress and played a girl bunny?”, “Marriage is punishment for shoplifting in some countries,” and “If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he’d be pralines and dick.”
We got our VHS copy of Wayne’s World when I was really young and they had an option at McDonald’s to purchase with a meal. (YES. This was a thing that really happened.) So I, too, was familiarized with the “blow chunks” and “spew” conversation at a young age. (See below, as it was originated on Saturday Night Live.) I was also one to play games in the street with friends as a child, and anytime a car would approach I’d be the first to call “Car!” and then “Game on!” while my sister and I snickered, being the lone two who understood the joke.
In honor of this momentous occasion, Sparkling ICE has come up with a recipe to replicate the ginormous fishbowl Garth can be seen carrying around in the movie. And we’re all in. So check out the recipe below, and make sure to share your favorite Sparkling ICE recipes with us @TheMoshery!
6 Ounces white rum
4 Ounces blue curacao
12 Ounces Lemonade Sparkling Ice
Fresh fruit, for garnish
In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend on high until it becomes slushy.
Pour into a chilled fishbowl and garnish with large skewers of fruit and party straws for sharing.
