Ever Wanted to Try Out Meditating – But Just Can’t Muster Up The Self-Discipline? Problem Solved.
Leave it to Oprah to make something as immaterial as meditation accessible to us all. But it’s true!
She and Deepak Chopra are at it again, bringing us a brand new, FREE 21-Day Meditation Challenge. This time the challenge is called, Getting Unstuck: Creating a Limitless Life. But you don’t have to be on board with the theme to enjoy the many benefits of a meditation practice.
The benefits of a regular meditation practice are highly cited, ranging from decreased symptoms of stress-activated physiological arousal, to improved immune system function and, of course, stress reduction. We are all familiar with the negative emotional repercussions of living in high-stress environments (hello, bitchiness!), but when it comes to the health benefits, the science-backed findings might just shock you.
It turns out that a regular meditation practice might as well create your own, individual bubble (Think: Bubble Boy of the emotional realm). And, well, we have to admit that when it comes to stress-induced reactivity, we can use all the help we can get!
But you’ll have to trust us when we tell you that when you take a look at meditation’s ability to interrupt and bypass the body’s stress-response, coupled with recent cutting-edge findings regarding our brain’s neuroplasticity, a regular practice of ‘winding down’ can actually help re-program your brain to respond to environmental stressors in a less sensitized way! In other words, on some level, you can learn to be less of a spazz! Talk about a new lease on life!
Obviously, the benefits of a regular meditation practice are highly applicable to a person like me – but if you’ve been on the fence for some time about whether or not to invest your energy in learning to meditate, this free, 21-day challenge could be perfect for you.
Why not give it a shot? It’s free! And you don’t have to worry staying focused on a mantra or even timing yourself – Deepak and Oprah take care of all of that for you. They’ll pace you on a guided visualization meditation for 20 minutes each day of the 21-day challenge.
So go ahead and give it a shot – you have nothing to lose, and unlimited potential to gain! It starts on July 11th, so you have plenty of time to muster up the courage.
P.S. During Graduate School, I learned a form of meditation called TM. Yes, that’s Transcendental Meditation. I went full-on hippie mode! But I can personally vouch for the incredible benefits I noticed. Still, experiencing the benefits firsthand wasn’t enough to keep me disciplined. So feel free to join me in starting up this healthy habit again, I can use all the help I can get!
