Never have I ever identified so much with someone over the age of 60. (She’s almost 70, folks! LOOK AT THAT SKIN!) A film about someone who is a bit out of touch with reality? Someone who has their own style and has not yet been embraced for her eccentricities? Someone who finds a new group of friends later in life who better accept her for being so different? Someone whose love interest is a (much younger) man at work? A woman who is concerned that she may die alone? I feel like we can all relate to this at some point in our lives. Which is why Hello, My Name is Doris is going to slay at the box office.
I’m not sure that they could have cast this movie any better, from Sally Field with her whacky personality and amazing facial expressions, to Kyle Mooney because he plays very similar characters so well all the time (check out his super awkward IMDB photo), to Max Greenfield with his amazing comedic timing and wildly attractive personality with every character he portrays. (Can you tell I have a slight crush?)
Of course you couldn’t round out the cast of such a quirky looking film without appearances by Peter Gallagher, Kumail Nanjiani (YESSSSSS), Elizabeth Reaser, Tyne Daly (the voice of reason), Stephen Root (who has an amazing resume, but we can’t help knowing him as this), Beth Behrs (of 2 Broke Girls fame), and many, many others. In fact, as the trailer went on, we got more and more excited about the cast and the variety of talent that is coming to the screen in this film!
The world premiere of Hello, My Name is Doris happened at the SXSW Film Festival last March. So of course, this means we have to wait until March 11, 2016 to view it in all of its wide-release glory.
