On Friday, February 17th, Sex + Ice Cream – and beautiful and quirky boutique in Kansas City’s Crossroads District – hosted a fun party in conjunction with THINX. The pop-up was hosted from 6pm to 10pm at the storefront, and featured free THINX x Sex + Ice Cream printed swag bags full of local goodies for the first 100 people (a perk that was out within moments due to the popularity of the event), as well as complimentary local eats and juices courtesy of Unbakery and Juicery, freshly mixed cocktails by KC native bartender Allie Konieczka, a photobooth (by our one true love, Suzanne Corum-Rich), and live music. Brand ambassador Melissa from THINX spoke with women about the mission of the company, while shop visitors were treated to special discounts and an array of beautiful things to get their hands on.
For those of you who aren’t already aware, THINX is a new brand of undies for women that makes the need for sanitary products during menstruation almost completely obsolete. They market as “period-proof underwear”, and are taking over the world with their message of women empowerment and reclaiming your time of the month. They also donate pairs of their product to women around the globe who might not have the means to purchase their own monthly protection. What they do is important, and Nicole, Sex + Ice Cream’s fearless founder, owner, curator, and designer – has been all for it since day one.
The event was a huge success, with a line out the door as early as 5:40pm. It was a gorgeous night, and the vibes were beyond positive. Check out some selects from the event below, and feel free to ask questions about any of the aforementioned partners. (If you’re wondering, I did get my hands on a pair of THINX, and I can’t rave enough about them!)
